Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is an international standard for organic clothing and textiles.
Like the eco-label, GOTS assumes 100% organic raw material and clothing and textiles with this label must consist of at least 70% organic fibres. The percentage is stated on the label.
Through the entire chain – from harvesting the raw material, through socially responsible production to labelling, packaging and distribution – this fabric meets the strict standard for organic textiles. This global standard includes the use of eco-friendly chemicals and water purification at the factories.
GOTS certification also requires compliance with social criteria in cotton cultivation and processing into fabric. These include things like minimum wages, a ban on child labour and a safe and hygienic working environment.
